The development of the renewable energy sector also covers the strengthening of private industry, but also vocational training and applied research. Indeed, the emergence of research and development (R&D) projects that are tangible and useful for industrial innovation in Morocco will induce the necessary structural changes for the transformation of the Moroccan industry towards the emerging market of green technologies.
Developing the skills of Moroccan researchers:
The capacity of Moroccan researchers to integrate the international knowledge community in an effective and contributory way is essential to put research in Morocco on the most up-to-date and promising paths while remaining close to the specific needs of operators and Moroccan industrial setup. This assumes the establishment of the necessary conditions for the emergence and development of national competences and for the exchange and sharing of knowledge and skills.
Encouraging research and innovation:
It is within this framework that GIZ Energy Morocco supports research, innovation and skills development in the field of renewable energies in Morocco, in this case through:
- Supporting solar testing platforms for solar research in desert conditions: technical assistance activities targeting particularly the Green Energy Park of Benguérir (IRESEN) and the Ouarzazate R&D Platform (MASEN);
- Supporting the setting up and implementation of innovative research projects.
Forging international links:
- Capacity-building and networking activities of Moroccan researchers at national and international level;
- Support for the organization and participation of Moroccan researchers in national and international events related to renewable energies. These activities focus on meetings between the academic world and the industrial world around solar issues, in order to allow Moroccan participants to present their research work, inquire about the latest innovations in the field and to forge links with their international institutional counterparts in the field.
